With 2024 just recently ending I believe a good start to the new year would be to go through a list of ways you can help protect your business or personal data from Cyber Attacks.
Number 1. The first is to use 2-Factor authentication on each of your devices. You can use something like Google Authenticator or a text to phone type of confirmation. With 2-Factor it makes it harder for attackers to steal your online accounts.
Number 2. Use harder to guess passwords. A password with special characters, symbols, lower case letters, upper case letters, and numbers is best. Take a look at websites like strongpasswordgenerator to generate a strong one. One with 12 characters should be good enough.
Number 3. Use an Anti-Virus. Now an Anti-Virus may seem like too much especially with the improvements like Windows has made, but you have to understand that it does help. A computer with a strong Anti-Virus is much better than one without it. If you would like we can work with you to help setup an Anti-Virus we recommend.
Number 4. Use caution. Perhaps the most important aspect of keeping yourself safe is to use caution because the way an attacker can easily access your data is if you give them access. So for any unknown emails or texts that have links in them, do not press them.
Number 5. Threat Detection System. One approach is to have systems in place which can block attacks at the network or Endpoint level. This means having an appliance setup or having software setup which can protect each device or network you have. We have some appliances or software that we use so just contact us and we can recommend some. We can also set these appliances and software up for you.
Number 6. Hire a business like us to monitor and protect your business, devices, and personal data. With us we can make sure you are protected by constantly checking the security of your website, servers, computers, and data. Just contact us to see how we can help.
With 2025 rolling in there is one thing on our mind. And that is that Security should be first!
